A sustainably focused Bitcoin mining company, Cleanspark has announced plans to start a 20 MW immersion cooling initiative at its Bitcoin mining facility in Norcross. The company is said to host around 5900 ‘Antminer S19J Pro’ miners that will be immersed in a biodegradable liquid for cooling when the initiative will kick start.

The company claimed that it would not require any architectural change in its facility for introducing this green initiative and only 180 liquid filled tanks will have to be placed which will contain 33 miners each immersed in the liquid. This will help in reducing cooling energy requirements by almost 20% and at the same time will increase the efficiency of the miners by a considerable amount.

The company claimed that it is always looking for the ways through which the Bitcoin mining process can be made energy efficient and least impactful on the environment. Cleanspark will be the first company to use the liquid immersion technique for cooling the miners at such a large scale and only very small facilities were doing it already.

Earlier another large cap mining company Riot Blockchain also announced that it will be using the immersion cooling technique for cooling half of its miners in its new facility in Texas where the total number of miners is 46,000.
